Cyclist Dragged To The Ground In Southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after two assaults which occurred around the junction of Gort Crescent and Cleethorpes Road in Sholing, Southampton.

The first victim was cycling past at about 11.55am on Saturday, February 4 and saw a group of three men in Gort Crescent. The men, who are all described as white and in their late teens or early 20s, started shouting at him. They then chased him eventually forcing him to the ground where they punched and kicked him repeatedly.

A resident in the street came out to help as he saw these males assaulting the victim. However, one of the offenders hit him over the head with a bottle leaving him with a cut to his head that needed stitches and a hairline facture to his skull.

The attackers were then collected in a silver Ford Focus and possibly dropped off nearby. It's thought this may have been in Kathleen Road.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who saw the attacks or the men hanging around the area. They would also like to hear from anyone who saw them being dropped off by the Ford Focus or who knows who they may be.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Chris Moss at Bitterne CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
