Concern Over Evening Parking Charge Plan
Plans being looked at by Southampton City Council to introduce evening parking charges are being criticised.
The Mayflower tell us they are 'strongly opposed' to the proposals as it would affect customers and staff, as well as the night-time economy in the city.
Chief executive Michael Ockwell said: "As we are in a bid to become joint City of Culture, surely these proposals could have a negative impact as we encourage cultural life in the city."
The city council says it needs to find new ways to make money because of budget cuts and Portsmouth and Bournemouth both have evening charges.
