Christmas Lights Back On For Waterlooville

Christmas lights are going to be put up in Waterlooville after all.

The town was set to miss out on lights this year as the organisation responsible for putting them up - the Waterlooville Business Association - said it didn't have enough money left.

Also because of roadworks in the town centre, there aren't so many trees left to decorate.

But now local councillor Ray Bastin has stepped in to help and is trying to organise lights to be put up in the trees along London Road.

He's going to hire some and have a big switch-on event during the evening of Saturday December 3.

He wanted to do it as he doesn't want the town to miss out, and hopes the Christmas sparkle will encourage more people to head to Waterlooville this Christmas.

But Cllr Bastin admits it's still going to cost around £3,000 and he may need some support from local businesses.

Anyone who can help is urged to get in touch with Cllr Bastin, by emailing: ray.bastin@havant.gov.uk
