Cat Nearly Killed By Airgun

Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a cat was shot in Southampton with what is believed to be an airgun.

The four-year-old ginger cat called Honey was shot sometime between 2 and 4pm in Dunbar Close in Lordshill on Saturday, March 26..

He was left with a potentially life threatening injury in the left hand side of his body and has had to undergo an operation to remove the airgun pellet. Luckily Honey has survived and is making a recovery.

Police are now trying to trace who shot the cat. They are appealing for anyone who may know or who witnesses the incident to get in contact with them.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Lynette Chant at Shirley police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

PC Chant said:

“This was a very cruel thing to do to a defenceless animal and a loved pet. It is just luck that Honey survived.. If anyone does know who caused this injury to Honey I’d urge them to come forward.

“I’d also advise people in the area to be vigilant about the safety of their pets at the moment while we try to trace the person responsible.”
