Tributes are being paid to a Hampshire man, found dead in Prague's river three weeks after going missing during a stag weekend.

Karl Law vanished on 15 November after he became separated from his brother and friends while on a trip to the Czech capital to celebrate a friend's forthcoming wedding.

Mr Law, 35, a builder from Fareham, was last seen at 11.30pm that day near the Maxim bar in the city's Old Town.

His friends and family have taken turns travelling to Prague, putting up thousands of posters as they searched for him, but yesterday a body was retrieved from the city's Vltava River, about half a mile from where he was last seen.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out by Czech authorities today.

Friends and family initially believed it was not Mr Law, but it has since been confirmed the body is that of the father of one.

In a post on a Facebook page, set up to help in the search, Karl's family said:

"Sleep tight Karl , love you so much , RIP x

"Would like to thank each and everyone of you for all your support and generosity throughout this last few weeks . It really is amazing to see and so uplifting .

"It helped so much and we will be forever thankful .

"As you can understand nows time to grieve , to remember the good times , the love he achieved .

"We'll soon be signing off so thank you again , the love the belief an strength came from you lot ! Ahmen ! Xxx"

Friends have been leaving messages of condolence too on ``Please help find Karl Law in Prague''.

Scott Oakley said: ``So sad to hear this. My thoughts are with his family. You've gone through more things in the space of a few weeks than most people go through in a lifetime.''

Kerry Snuggs added: ``So sad to see this, my prayers are with all of you at this awful sad time. There's no such thing as closure in a time of sorrow like this as you will never forget, but I hope in time that your pain will ease and you will find some comfort in knowing Karl was clearly loved by so many people.''

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: ``We can confirm the death of a British national who was reported missing in Prague and we are in touch with the local authorities. We are in close contact with the family and are providing consular assistance at this difficult time.''
