Attempted Armed Robbery At Betting Shop
Police in Southampton are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a betting shop in Woolston.
At around 6.35pm on Saturday April 14, a man went into Ladbrokes in Victoria Road and demanded money from staff there.
He showed what may have been a handgun to the staff.
The staff members refused to hand over any money and the man left on a black moutain bike- along Portswood Road towards the Itchen Bridge roundabout.
The man is descibed as:
-White
-25-mid 30s
-5ft 7-5ft 10 tall
-Medium build
-Wearing a light grey hooded top with the hood up and pulled tightly around his face; blue jeans and dark green trench coat
-He had a strong accent-possibly Irish.
DC Danielle Daltrey who is investigating said:
“This was a busy day for the shop as it was Grand National Day. Although the man left empty handed, this is a serious incident which resulted in staff being left scared and shaken.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who was in Ladbrokes around this time, or who saw a man cycling away from the shop.”
She added: “If you do recognise the man in the CCTV images please contact us.”
