Appeal After Golf Club Attack

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted with a golf club in Portsmouth.

A 24-year-old man received injuries to his face in the assault, which took place on Middle Street in Somerstown at around 11.40pm on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A possible suspect was described as:

> White

> Average height

> Stocky build

> with short, mousey brown curly hair

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jim Garrett said:  “We’re making enquiries into reports that a golf club was used in this assault. The sight of someone carrying one could have stood out for any witnesses at that the time of night. It is also
believed there were a few people walking home from Guildhall Walk. Please contact police if you have seen anyone in this area carrying a golf club recently.”
