Appeal After Chandlers Ford Burglary

Police are appealing for information after a burglary over the weekend at a house in Newport Close, Chandlers Ford.

Sometime between 5.10pm Friday and 1pm Sunday, October 5 - 7, a thief or thieves entered the detached house through an unlocked conservatory window.  Once inside, the they made an untidy search of the premises, even emptying a washing machine of clothes.

Items taken included a Rolex platinum strap watch with a pink dial, a jade bangle, a silver Toshiba laptop, a laptop charger and a safe with passports and Hong Kong dollars.

PC James Pieri is appealing for witnesses who saw unfamiliar people or vehicles in the area over the weekend.

"This is a rare occurrence in this area, so residents may have noticed strangers or unfamiliar vehicles in the area of Newport Close.  If so, we need to hear from them.

"We also want to hear from anyone who has been offered items for sale which are similar to the stolen goods," PC Pieri said.

"Sadly, this incident is a reminder of the importance of ensuring that all windows and doors are locked when you leave your home.  Don't simply count on the fact that your neighbourhood is relatively safe most of the time," PC Pieri said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC James Pieri at Eastleigh on 101  or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
