Police are investigating the theft of a £100,000 sundial from a stately home in Itchen Abbas, Hampshire.
Sometime during the early hours of Tuesday, August 9, the grounds of Avington Park were entered and the antique sundial
was stolen.
The marble and brass piece is thought to be more than 250 years old and worth more than £100,000.
Detective Constable Steve Roman, from Winchester CID, said: “Although this theft happened during the early hours of the morning, it would have needed a number of people with a vehicle to steal it, as it is extremely heavy, so it may be that someone saw or heard something that can help with our investigation.
“The item is quite distinctive and it may be that someone has seen it for sale. If you have any information that can help, please get in touch.”
Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Roman at Winchester police station on 101, via the website at www.hampshire.police.uk/internet/contact/message_officer..htm or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Minicom users should call 01962 875000.
