Police in East Lothian are investigating following a sexual assault on an East Coast Buses' vehicle.

It happened at around half 6 on Wednesday night (Dec 14th) when a 17-year-old woman boarded the 107 bus at Market Street, Haddington, travelling to Dunbar.

Once she boarded the bus she was assaulted by a male passenger. He eventually moved to front on the bus and alighted at the bus stop on Mill Wynd, East Linton. He then walked away in an unknown direction.

The assault was reported to police and officers are now appealing for information.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early to mid 40's. He has a slim build and was described as quite muscular with short cropped grey/brown hair.

He was seen to be wearing a grey hooded top with loose jeans. He was also carrying a dark blue bag.

Police Sergeant David Aitchison of Haddington Police Station said: "This was a very upsetting ordeal for the 17-year-old victim and it is important that we trace the man responsible as soon as possible.

"I would urge anyone who was on the number 107 East Coast bus on Wednesday, December 14, and remembers this incident, or recognises the suspect description, to get in touch with us immediately."

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
