Teen In Court Over Nurse Death

An 18-year-old man will appear in court after a nurse was struck and killed by a car that was being pursued by police in Edinburgh.

Jill Pirrie, 33, was making her way home from work when she was struck by a vehicle that had failed to stop for officers.

Police investigating last Thursday's incident in Old Dalkeith Road said a man of 18 had been arrested over a number of alleged road traffic offences.

He will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc) is reviewing the circumstances that led to the death of mother-of-one Ms Pirrie, who worked at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
