A firearm and drugs worth nearly £130,000 have been seized during a police raid in Edinburgh.

Two men aged 23 and 24 have been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

Officers carried out searches at properties in Stenhouse Street West, Longstone Terrace and Stenhouse Mill Crescent on Thursday.

A five-figure sum of cash, a firearm and drugs with an estimated value of £128,000 were seized.

Detective Inspector Kevin Harkins said: "The recovery of these drugs, cash and a firearm reiterates our commitment to tackling serious organised crime and sends a clear message to those involved that we will not tolerate their illegal activities in Edinburgh.

"These arrests are an excellent example of an intelligence-led police operation supported by information provided by the public in Edinburgh who do not want organised criminals ruining their communities.

"Communities in Edinburgh should be reassured that we will and do act on information provided to us, and any reports of criminal activity we receive will be treated with the utmost sensitivity and discretion and will be investigated thoroughly to bring offenders to justice."

The two men will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.
