Police Appeal For Footage After Stabbing

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was stabbed on a busy main road.

He and another man became involved in an altercation after getting out of a taxi on Manse Road in the Newmains area of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, on Monday afternoon.

The injured man, 28, was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment to stab wounds.

Medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at around 4.10pm.

Detective Constable Gary Lipscombe, from Wishaw CID, said: "This altercation took place in the middle of a busy main road and will have been witnessed by motorists and passers-by.

"I would ask anyone who saw what happened, or who perhaps has dashcam footage, to please come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Wishaw CID via 101 or alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.''

The other man involved is understood to have made off in the direction of Westwood Road.

He is described as being aged in his late 20s, 5ft 10in, with shaved hair and dark clothing.
