Police in Edinburgh have started an investigation after a nine-year-old cyclist was struck by a car, which then failed to stop.
The boy suffered minor injuries after the incident in the Gilmerton area on Thursday March 16 at 8.40am. He did not require medical treatment.
Officers say the boy was cycling in Hyvot Loan, at its junction with Hyvot Mill Drive, when he was struck by a dark hatchback-style car which may have been a Ford.
The vehicle was last seen on Hyvot Mill Drive.
Pc Ross Halliday, of the road policing unit in Edinburgh, said: ''Thankfully, the boy only sustained minor injuries but the driver failed to stop at the scene and we are eager to trace him.
''We'd ask anyone who may have witnessed this collision, saw the car in the area or recognises its description to get in touch.
''Likewise, if the driver himself sees this appeal, I'd urge him to come forward and contact us.''
