Murdered Man's Mum Asks For Help

The mother of Duncan Banks has issued an impassioned appeal for information from the public to help catch her son's killer.

Mr Banks, 39, was found dead in his flat at Skye Road, Dunfermline, Fife, on Monday September 28.

Detectives launched a murder investigation and said he had suffered "significant head injuries''.

Crimestoppers have now issued a reward of up to #10,000 for information that leads to a conviction.

Mr Banks' mother Dorothy described the incident and the weeks that followed as her "worst nightmare'', made all the more difficult because her family do not know the reasons behind his death.

Mrs Banks said: "As a mother it is your worst nightmare to have to bury your son, yet this is the reality I am dealing with following Duncan's murder.

"Duncan wouldn't hurt a fly, he doted on his family, he was a loving a son, brother, uncle and friend and his death has left a huge void in our family, which we are struggling to cope with at this time.

"This has undoubtedly been the most distressing and unsettling period of our lives and it has been all the more difficult given that we don't know who killed Duncan, and more importantly, why.''

Mrs Banks acknowledged that her son had experienced personal problems with drug addiction, as she urged anyone with information to come forward so she could "lay Duncan to rest''.

"We know that Duncan had his own personal issues and had been continually battling drug addiction, but to be killed in the manner he was is both cruel and unnecessary and I believe that his spirit will not be at peace until we get justice for him,'' she said.

"We cannot lay Duncan to rest whilst the investigation to find his killer continues, so I would like to make an appeal to anyone who knows something to do the right thing and tell the police anything they know.

"Someone, somewhere must know something, so please come forward.''
