A murder investigation is under way after a man died following a disturbance at a pub.
The 68-year-old was involved in an altercation with another man at the Montgomerie Arms in East Kilbride at around 5.45pm yesterday, Police Scotland said.
The other man walked away from the pub while the injured man was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
Detectives launched the murder inquiry today and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Mark Henderson said: "Our investigation is continuing today and we are following a number of lines of inquiry in relation to this death. A post-mortem examination will take place later today to establish the exact cause of death, however we are treating the death as murder.
"At this time we are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to this incident and the motive for this murder. Officers from the inquiry team remain in the area today carrying out their inquiries. CCTV footage from the pub and local area is also being studied.
"I would urge anyone who was in the Montgomerie Arms at the time of the incident yesterday who hasn't yet spoken to police to contact the inquiry team as a matter of urgency as they may have details that are crucial to this investigation."
