Mining Disaster "Preventable"
A mining disaster in New Zealand that killed 2 Scots could've been prevented.
25 year old Malcolm Campbell from St Andrews and 40 year old Pete Rodger from Perthshire died at the Pike River mine 2 years ago.
An official report released today revealed that the company that ran the mine ignored 21 warnings that methane had accumulated to explosive levels.
Investigators also said the now-bankrupt Pike River Coal company was exposing miners to unacceptable risks as it strove to meet its financial targets.
