Man arrested after girl, 16, allegedly raped

A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was allegedly raped on New Year's Day.

The 16-year-old was subjected to an alleged serious sexual assault in Atholl Place, Linwood, Renfrewshire in the early hours of January 1.

Police said an 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He has been released on an undertaking to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
