High Court in Glasgow

A man has admitted chopping off a disabled woman's hand in Dundee.

Stephen Brisbane will be sentenced over the incident later this month.

The 34 year old also denied a charge of stealing his sister's phone last February - that plea was accepted.

Detective Inspector Tom Leonard said :

"The attack on Sandra McGowan was brutal and horrific and resulted in life changing injuries for her.

"Our thoughts continue to be with Sandra and her family.

"I would like to take the opportunity to commend the officers and ambulance staff who attended the scene in the first instance and administered first aid to keep Sandra alive despite the severity of the injury."
