Lollipop lady robbed at knifepoint during school run

Police are hunting two "despicable" men who robbed a lollipop lady at knifepoint during the school run.

The 36-year-old was carrying out her duties outside the Mill Inn on Millgate Road, Hamilton, when the pair came up and threatened her with a knife.

They stole a two-figure sum of money and then made off along Millgate Road.

The lollipop lady was not injured during the incident.

Police are appealing for information about the incident which happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday February 20 in the South Lanarkshire town.

Detective Constable David MacMillan said: "These two despicable individuals preyed on a lollipop lady right in the middle of the school run and thankfully no children were beside her at the time.

"The area will have been busy with people collecting children from school and I would appeal to anyone who noticed these two men beside the lollipop lady, or in the surrounding area, to please get in touch.

"I would also ask any motorists with dashcams who were in the area around 3.30pm yesterday to come forward in case they have captured the incident or the suspects making off from the scene.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambuslang CID via 101, quoting incident number 2605 of Tuesday 20 February 2018. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence."

The first man is described as 5ft5'', of skinny build with a shaved head and rotten teeth.

He was wearing a black tracksuit top, a white t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.

The second man was 5ft5'', of heavy build with short dark hair and rotten teeth.

He was wearing a black tracksuit top, a grey t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.
