Fatal fire in Borders not suspicious - Police

The death of a man in a house fire in the Borders is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to Mill Path, Hawick at around 10am on Thursday.

Three fire crews tackled the blaze and the body of a 68-year-old man was discovered inside the property.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A joint investigation is currently ongoing with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the death is not believed to be suspicious.

"A report will sent to the procurator fiscal."
