NHS Great Glasgow and Clyde will decide whether to shut a children's ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

There have been been petitions and protests in an effot to stop the move.

The NHS board is expected to recommend the closure of the children's ward at the Royal Alexandra.

Many services from Ward 15 would be transferred to the new children's unit at the superhospital site in Glasgow.

The Health Board says the decision has been driven by clinical reasons rather than cost-cutting.

We'll find out later in Govan exactly where the axe will fall.

Scottish Labour's Health spokesperson Anas Sarwar, who's fighting the closure, said:

"This is the chance for the SNP to intervene and save valued maternity units like those at Vale of Leven and Inverclyde.

"Health Secretary Shona Robison is trying to kick this issue into the long-grass until after the election, but she must now step-up and deliver on her party’s promises to protect local services.

"She said she could not act until the National Review of Maternity Services made their recommendations. It could not be clearer that services should be accessible and local."
