The incident happened as the 26-year-old was climbing at the Hawkcraig sea cliff near Silver Sands Beach, Aberdour, at around 6.45pm on Tuesday.
The Kinghorn lifeboat recovered the man from the shoreline but he was pronounced dead by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

''Inquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.''
