DJ Calvin Harris has praised the addition of a dance music category to the SSE Scottish Music Awards for the first time in its 18-year history.
The new "Best Dance Act'' award sponsored by Sub Club has been added to this year's ceremony to recognise Scotland's "rich dance music scene''.
Harris said: "The dance music and club scene has always been amazing in Scotland, so it's brilliant to see the category being recognised at this year's Scottish Music Awards.''
The SSE Scottish Music Awards takes place on November 26 in Glasgow, with acts including Paolo Nutini, Wet Wet Wet and Annie Lennox having taken to the stage in previous years.
The annual ceremony is the main fundraising event for Nordoff Robbins Scotland (NRS), a music therapy charity, and last year raised more than £140,000 for vulnerable children and adults.
Sub Club owner Mike Grieve said: "Dance music is at the heart of what we do as a business, so it's a huge honour to be sponsoring the SSE Scottish Music Awards' first-ever dance award, as well as supporting Nordoff Robbins' amazing charity work.''
