Emergency services were called to Strathbrock homeless facility in West Main Street, Broxburn, on Monday after concerns were raised.
The baby, thought to be 12-weeks-old, was taken to the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: ``A baby girl is in a serious condition at the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh after taking unwell at an address in West Main Street, Broxburn, on Monday night.
"Local officers are currently liaising with medical staff and with family members as they work towards establishing the full set of circumstances.''
