One of Scotland's most prestigious Uni's accepted just 5 students from the country's most deprived areas.
New research ,from the NUS, shows St Andrews took one student from the least well off 10 perecent for every 28 students they accepted from the top 10 percent.
Young people from affluent backgrounds are more than twice as likely to attend university than deprived youths.
