Detectives are appealing for information after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Linwood last night (Saturday 21st April)
At around 9.45pm, the 14 year old girl was with a group of friends in a wooded area behind a sports centre on Brediland Road.
The group of friends went their separate ways to go home whilst the girl made her way back into the woods to search for a lost item.
Whilst in the woods the girl was approached from behind by a man who subjected her to a sexual assault.
The man was not known to the victim and is described as being in his early 20s with dark stubble and was wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers.
The man left the wooded area following the incident and the victim ran home to inform her mother who then contacted police.
Detective Sergeant Alex Allardyce from Paisley CID said: ''This was an extremely traumatic ordeal for the victim and specialist officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened.
''I would appeal to anyone who was in the area near to the sports centre on Brediland Road around 9.45pm on Saturday and may have noticed a man matching the above description, or anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch.
''Anyone with information is asked to contact Paisley CID via 101, quoting incident number 4789 of Saturday 21 April 2018. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.''
