Firefighters had to help 10 people out of a block of flats after a blaze broke out.

The alarm was raised at 2.03am on Wednesday about the incident at Craigmillar Road, Glasgow.

A property on the first floor had gone up in flames, forcing neighbouring flats to be evacuated.

Residents were escorted out of the building and were looked after by paramedics.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Operations control immediately mobilised six appliances, which used powerful water jets to extinguish the fire.

"Crews remain at the scene."

People were treated for the effects of breathing smoke, and one person was taken to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesman said the cause of the fire is unknown.
