Woman Found Dead In Gosforth Named

Police have named a 50-year-old woman who was found dead in her home in Gosforth.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering Heather Arthur, whose body was found at an address in Woodbine Road, Gosforth.

Northumbria Police said the woman, who was originally from the Isle of Wight, had suffered unexplained injuries.

The arrested man remained in police custody.

In a separate case around eight miles away, a 52-year-old woman was found dead at an address in Byrness Row, Cramlington, Northumberland.

A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and was helping police with inquiries.

In each case police said the women and the arrested men were known to each other.
