Woman Denies Dangerous Dog Charge

A woman has denied being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control after 12 people were attacked in a play park in Blyth.

The children were attacked by the brown-coloured Staffordshire bull terrier dog in May.

Nine of them needed hospital treatment after the incident at the park in Burns Avenue.

37 year old Claire Neale, of Chasedale Crescent, Blyth, pleaded not guilty to the charge at a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court.

She was granted bail.

Judge Ben Nolan QC said the trial would take place in February.

As part of her bail he said she must now live in South Tyneside, she cannot enter Blyth and cannot own a dog.
