Woman Bundled Into Car In Sunderland

after officers were called to Silksworth Way in Sunderland at 4.43am this morning.

Police are investigating.

The reports was about concerns for a woman's safety.

Officers attended and found a woman had been bundled into a car.

Enquiries led them to an address in Flighters Place where they found a 27-year-old woman with injuries.

She was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment and her condition is described as stable.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested.

Police say it's an isolated incident and it is believed the man and woman are known to each other.


Acting Detective Sergeant Natalie Robson said:

"We know that local residents may be feeling concerned that this incident has taken place, however we do want to reassure people that this is a most unusual occurrence.

"We have additional uniformed officers on duty in the area to speak to residents and anyone with concerns is asked to talk to an officer about this matter."

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
