The number of people out of work in the North East between August and October has fallen by 8,000.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics this morning show there were 118,000 people out of work in the region during those three months.
That's down by 11,000 on this time last year.
The gap between the number of men and women out of work in the North East is closing.
During August to October there were 60,000 women who were unemployed here, compared to 58,000 men.
The region still has the highest rate of unemployment in the country though, at 9.1%.
