Two people are feared to have died in a fire at a terraced house in a village in Northumberland.
Emergency services were called to a house fire at an address in Lucker, Belford, at 5.39am.
Police, fire crews and the ambulance service attended and found a terraced house on fire in the village.
The property, next to the Apple Inn, was severely damaged by the blaze.
The next door property also suffered minor fire damage.
In a statement Northumbria Police said:
"The fire service extinguished the fire and sadly at this time it's believed that the bodies of possibly two occupants are inside the house."
"Police are making enquiries to identify the deceased."
"Police and fire service are carrying out enquiries into the cause of the fire."
The investigation is at an early stage.
