Toddler Critical After Motorbike Crash

An 18 month old girl remains in a critical condition in hospital after the pushchair she was in with her twin brother was hit by a motorbike in Sunderland.
It happened at 9.52am yesterday (February 22nd),when police received a report that a motorbike had collided with a woman with a pushchair in the road on the B1286 City Way in Doxford Park in Sunderland.
Police and the ambulance service attended and two children, twins - a boy and a girl both aged 18 months, were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.
The boy sustained injuries and is recovering at the hospital. The girl has been transferred to the RVI where she remains in a critical condition.
The twins' mother, aged 26, was also hurt but not seriously.
The rider of the bike, a 30-year-old man, was also taken to hospital and received treatment for his injuries.
Police are still trying to find out exactly what happened.
The road was closed for three and a half hours to allow for investigation.
Officers have informed next of kin and are providing support to family members.
