Three Arrests Over Lord Mayor Burglary

Three men have been arrested after items worth around £150,000 were stolen from the Lord Mayor's official residence in Newcastle.

Overnight between Monday, April 1st, and Tuesday, April 2nd, thieves broke into the Newcastle Lord Mayor's Mansion House in Fernwood Road in Jesmond.

Items stolen included a gold Nobel Peace Prize awarded in the 1930s to a Newcastle Nobel Laureate, a lock of hair from Admiral Lord Collingwood, and a large amount of antique silverware.

Three men aged 64, 21 and 20 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and are currently helping police with enquiries.
