Two Charged Over Newcastle Stabbing

Two people have been arrested after a 19 year old man was stabbed in Newcastle city centre.

Ryan Charles Witherspoon, 23, of Fairhaven Avenue in Walker, Newcastle, has been charged with wounding with intent to commit GBH and threatening a person with a blade in public.

A 16-year-old male youth from Gosforth, Newcastle, has been charged with wounding with intent to commit GBH and threatening a person with a blade in public.

Both will appear at Newcastle Magistrates' Court today.

Two people have been arrested after a 19 year old man was stabbed in Newcastle city centre.

A 23 year old man and a 16 year old boy are in police custody and are being held on suspicion of wounding with intent.

The man suffered injuries to his waist and face in the attack at Old Eldon Square on Saturday evening.

A 17 year old boy, who was arrested, has been released with no further action.

A 17 year old man's been arrested following a stabbing at Old Eldon Square in Newcastle city centre.

A 19-year-old man suffered stab wounds yesterday evening and was taken to hospital for treatment.

His condition is stable and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and is in police custody.

Extra officers remain in the city centre to offer reassurance, anyone concerned can speak to an officer on patrol.

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries and appeal for witnesses.
