Teenage Girl Raped In Newcastle City Centre

An 18 year old girl's been raped after a night out in Newcastle city centre

It's thought to have happened in Wilson's Court, an alley way which runs between the Groat Market (Bigg Market) and Pudding Chare in Newcastle between 2 and 2.30 on Sunday morning (13th October).

Officers are carrying out enquiries to trace the offender who may have met the victim earlier in the evening.

Extra officers are in the area carrying out enquiries into the incident and answering any concerns residents may have.

Superintendent Peter Farrell, said:
"We know incidents such as this are incredibly traumatic and we are doing everything we can to ensure the victim has appropriate help and support from specially trained officers.

I'd ask anyone who was in the area of the Bigg Market last night to contact us as they may have information that can help us identify the offender. Likewise, if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious we'd urge them to get in contact.

Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in and around the area both to reassure the community and trace the offender."
