12 year old Matthew Hayes was killed when he was hit by a bus in Sunderland.
His parents have thanked the people who tried to save him.
The schoolboy, who's from Moorside, was hit in Ryhope Street South near the Adsa supermarket at 3:25pm on Friday (22nd November).
He died at the scene.
Matthew was a pupil in year 8 at the Venerable Bede Church of England Academy.
He was on his way home from school at the time.
Family Statement
In a statement, Matthew's parents said:
"We would like to thank all the people who tried to save Matthew's life on Friday.
We know there were a lot of people at the scene, including Matthew's schoolfriends, members of the public and all the emergency services.
We know everyone did their best to try and save Matthew."
