Man Charged Over Washington Murder

A man's due to appear in court charged with murder after a 20 year old was stabbed in Washington.

Police and ambulance crews found Andrew Lucas in Warkworth Close, where he lived, at 3.40am on Sunday (4th November).

Northumbria Police said he sustained a number of injuries and was taken to hospital but pronounced dead.

A force spokesman said 45 year old Mark Spalding, also from Washington, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday.

He will appear before Sunderland magistrates on Monday morning (5th November).
