Police have named a man who died after being hit by a car in North Shields as 66 year old Roy Toogood MBE from Cullercoats
Mr Toogood received his MBE for his work with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
The crash happened on the A1058 Beach Road, North Shields, at 11.33am on Monday, February 18th.
Roy Toogood was taken to the RVI hospital for treatment following the crash where he died.
The driver of the car, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
