Despite constant reports about the current obesity crisis, people in the North East managed to shed an incredible 27,002 stone of excess weight in 2011.
That's about 168 fully grown blue whales!
Stats show that the UK lost a staggering total of 350 tonnes of excess weight in 2011 - equivalent to 233 family cars, 26 Big Bens, seven Stonehenge stones or two Angels of the North.
22 year old Jessica Allsop helped contribute to the North East's figures - after losing more than 10 stone! (See her amazing before and after pics lower down)
She's been having a chat to Capital reporter Anna Harding
