Pro boxing's back on Tyneside tonight, as the 'License To Thrill' show comes to Gateshead - featuring Sedgefield's Bradley Saunders.

The Wraith Promotions event at Gateshead Leisure Centre's expected to pull a crowd of more than 1,000.

Former Olympic boxer Bradley Saunders will top the bill taking on Georgie Mendez Junior in what will be his first fight in the North East since turning pro.

The 27 year old's told Capital:
"I haven't fought in the North East for 10 years I think it is now, so it;s not just my professional debut, I'd say it's my debut in the North East.

I just can't wait.

I'm a North East lad and I'd like to bring boxing back to the North East.

I've always wanted to fight at Newcastle Arena and that'll be my next step after this one."

Saunders will take on Mendez Jr after his previous opponent pulled out.
