A mum of four from Newcastle has appeared in court charged with biting off her boyfriend's testicles.
Maria Topp, 43, sank her teeth into Martin Douglas's groin in a drunken late-night attack, it is alleged.
Mr Douglas underwent emergency surgery to reattach his injured testicles and scrotum, police said.
A telephone operator who took Mr Douglas's 999 emergency call said the 45 year old DJ was in so much pain he could barely speak.
Paramedics who attended his flat in Waterloo Street called police and Topp was arrested.
She has since appeared in court charged with grievous bodily harm over the February 18 incident in which Mr Douglas also suffered an arm injury.
The victim spent several days in hospital recovering from his injuries.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: ``At around 4am on Friday, February 18, police were called to a report of an assault in Waterloo Street in Newcastle.
Officers attended and arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of assault.
A 45-year-old man was taken to the Freeman Hospital for treatment to injuries to his arm and groin area.
Police have since charged Maria Georgina Topp, 43, Waterloo Street with causing GBH and she appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Saturday, February 19.''
