A memorial service will be held for a teenager who died in the River Wear in County Durham on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the girlfriend of Jordan Roberts has exclusively told Capital she’s “lost her partner in crime.”

The 17 year old from Downhill in Sunderland, died after getting into difficulty in the water at Finchale Abbey, County Durham, on Tuesday.

His body was recovered shortly before midday on Wednesday.

He’d originally gone into the water with one of his brothers, who was pulled to safety by a family friend before being taken to hospital where he remains.

His girlfriend, Courtney Baker, and friends have revisited his favourite skate park where they shared some of their fondest memories.

She told Capital:
“Last time I was up here I was with Jordan and now it’s just too much.

Obviously I’ve been with him for ages, I used to be with him every day and now I’m lost without him.

He used to be by partner in crime and everything; we used to always be together.”

Hundreds of mourners will descend on that same skate park in Downhill this evening for a memorial service.

Life-long friend Clayton McKenna will be attending and told Capital he’s a huge loss.

“It honestly took me a few days to believe it because he was always on the estate with a happy smile on his face.

It’s hard not seeing him on his bike, he’s an amazing lad.

Fantastic he is.”
