Wallsend Metro Attack Victim Named

A man who died from the injuries he got after being attacked at Wallsend metro stop has been identified.

22 year old Aivaras Savickas, who was from Lithuania originally but was living in Wallsend, died from his injuries in hospital on Thursday (16th February).

He was attacked at 8pm on Sunday night (12th February) and suffered a serious brain injury as well as multiple fractures.

He was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary where he died four days after the attack.

On Tuesday, two men appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court charged with attempted murder.

22 year old Veleus Norkus, from Oakley Street in Northampton, and 21 year old Thomas Mikalauskas, from Vine Street in Wallsend, were remanded in custody until February 28th.
