Police are appealing for witnesses after a 48-year-old man was assaulted outside a hotel in Sunderland.
It's thought the man was attacked by another man around 1.20am this morning, outside the Roker Hotel in Roker Terrace, leaving him with serious head injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he is currently in a serious condition.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information or may have been in the area and saw anything.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested.
