UPDATED 7TH NOVEMBER 2013 - 9am

Mountain rescue teams and the mounted and dog sections of Northumbria Police are all searching for a missing Northumberland man.

34 year old Matt Adams was last seen at 10.45am, on Tuesday, November 5th.

However, he failed to return to his home in Drummonds Close, Longhorsley.

Searches of the area are being carried out by Northumberland officers supported by specialist teams, including the force's mounted and dog section and Mountain Rescue.

A mobile police station has also been set up in the centre of Longhorsley and anyone with information on the 34-year-old's whereabouts is urged to go along and speak to officers.

Matt is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build.

He has mousey blond hair which is shaven on the sides and longer on the top. He has a bald spot on his crown and a beard with ginger patches. Matt has distinctive ear piercings, including large spacers in his lobes and little spacers at the top of his ear with scaffold bars.

He also has his tongue and nose pierced as well as several tattoos. When last seen he was wearing black trousers, a black baseball cap and black Dr Marten-style boots. He was also wearing silver necklace with a large silver ring attached and wristbands, including one with his name on.

Superintendent Mick Paterson, from Northumberland Area Command, said:
"We are asking for the public's help to trace Matt who hasn't been seen since yesterday morning.

We have officers working to find him in areas we know he would frequent. We are doing everything we can to locate him as we want him to return home safely.

Our concerns are growing for Matt, not only because of the length of time he's now been missing, but also because of his recent state of mind.

Matt is on foot and we are looking at the possibility he has taken shelter in a secluded location such as a barn or outhouse, buildings which will form part of our search.

However, we'd also ask local farmers, gamekeepers and landowners to check outbuildings and other shelters for any sign of him.

As well as Longhorsely and the surrounding areas, Matt is known to frequent Jesmond Dene so I'd ask anyone in that area who may have seen him to contact us.

Anyone whose seen Matt or knows of his whereabouts can also contact police on 101, extension 69191.
