Man Dies in A1 Crash At Washington

A man's died after coming off his motorbike on the A1 near Washington.
At just after 11.05am, on Saturday, May 2nd, police received a report that a motorcycle had crashed on the A1 near Washington services.
For reasons yet to be established, the motorcyclist has come off his motorcycle and collided with the central reservation.
Emergency services were called to the scene and road closures were put in place as witness's were spoken to and the scene examined.
The motorcyclist, a 46-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. We are not in a position to name him at this stage.
Enquiries into the crash are continuing and police are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information.
