Man Dies In Gateshead Crash

A man's died after the truck he was driving hit a van on the Team Valley in Gateshead.

It happened on Earlsway at 2:06pm on Tuesday and involved a white DAF truck and a white panel van. 

The driver of the truck, a 61-year-old man, was treated by paramedics at the scene, but was pronounced dead on arrival at the Queen Elizabeth hospital. 

He won't be identified until all family relatives have been informed. 

The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
