Man Critical After Newcastle City Centre Assault

A man's in a critical condition in hospital after being assaulted in Newcastle's Bigg Market.
The 28 year old suffered serious head injuries in the attack which happened just after 2am on Friday 27th January.
The injured man was taken to Newcastle's RVI .
A 25 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident and in custody helping officers with their enquiries.
Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
